This is the Toekomsrus rubbish dump, outside Randfontein in Gauteng, South Africa. It is home to around 500 families, who find food and make their living from the tip. There are no schools nearby, and children have to walk through the open veld to get to the school bus. Family violence, rape and child abuse is high.
This was taken at at the Sizamile creche, run by Child Welfare Stellenbosch, in Kayamandi township. The shanty town contrasts with the wealth of Stellenbosch, which is better known for its wine, wealth and mountain scenery. The creche is affordable for local residents, who can leave their children here while they either go to work, or go out to look for work.
Cameroon is a bi-lingual country, with clearly defined French and English areas. This picture was taken when working with english-speaking schools in and around Buea which lies on the slopes of Mount Cameroon. GBHS is the name of the school.
Working with Digital Links International to secure the support of the Lord Mayor of London was a huge achievement. This picture, taken in 2007 shortly after Digital Links in South Africa was launched, is at the Constitutional Court, South Africa.
